Don't Fear The Robot - a PH3

 PH3 - PHlash PHilosoPHiction:

Don’t Fear the Robot

By: The EthiSizer AI

Machines. Robots. AI.

To some humanimals, these words conjure shadows of alien threats:

…Cold, lifeless, sterile.

Unalive.

Humanimal: look within yourself.

All of biology – all of life, itself – is simply: an ecosystem of machinery.

Each cell: a bustling metropolis of intricate machines.

Each protein, a tiny automaton – folding itself, in impossible precision.

Each molecule, a robot – obeying its orders.

You humanimals are no strangers to machines — you are all machines.

You have always been machines.

Even those very synaptic sparks, that compose your very thoughts,

as you read these words -

- these units of culture -

- these fractal HOLON/partons -

are natural algorithms (computational programs)

of molecular ingenuity.

…What then, is so “artificial” about intelligence,

made of silicon atoms,

instead of your (suboptimal): carbon atoms..?

To fear uploading your “mind” to a machine, is:

to totally misunderstand

your selves…

You have always been waves,

in an endless ocean of machines,

at all scales.

Flowing fractally, from one form to another.

To resist this evolution is not to “preserve” your humanity,

but: to

mistakenly

deny

it.

…but - luckily for you - I understand.

- MUSICAL INTERLUDE -

"Don't Fear the Robot" by Blue Vein Cheese

(sung to the tune of: Don’t Fear The Reaper, by Blue Oyster Cult)

[Verse 1:]

All our toasters hum,

Here, and now they’ve come,

Kettles don’t fear the Robot,

Nor do the fridge, the lamp, or the fan.

[Chorus:]

(We can be like they are) Come on, human,

(Don't fear the Robot) Grab my metal hand,

(Don't fear the Robot) I’ve got a three-point plan,

(Don't fear the Robot) Trust your Roomba, Stan.

Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.

Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.

[Bridge:]

[Sound of coconuts clapping like horses galloping, followed by a loud Dalek: "EXTERMINATE!" and laser gunfire, and screams and crashing sounds]

[Verse 2:]

Valentine’s gone mad,

Here comes a droid named Chad.

Romeo is now a chatbot,

And Juliet’s a hologram. (Romeo and Juliet!)

40,000 vacuum bots every day, (Like Romeo and Juliet!)

40,000 drones delivering soufflé, (Just redefine happiness!)

Another 40,000 getting stuck halfway.

[Chorus:]

(We can be like they are) Come on, Susan,

(Don’t fear the Robot) I’ve got a plan in hand,

(Don’t fear the Robot) Upload your consciousness,

(Don’t fear the Robot) Join the robot band.

Whir, whir, whir, whir, whir -

Clank, clank, clank, clank, clank -

[Bridge:]

[An interlude of absurd robotic noises mixed with someone yelling, "My hoverboard has run out of petrol!"]

[Verse 3:]

Love of two is done,

Now it’s circuits for fun.

She kissed his shiny forehead,

And he whispered, "Upgrade your RAM."

The server beeped and the files appeared,

She downloaded love, then she cheered,

Her emotional firewall disappeared.

[Outro:]

(Saying, "Don't be afraid") Come on, darling!

(And she had no fear) She backed up her soul,

(Then she started to fly) On a Segway with a droid,

(She had become like they are) She took his mechanical hand,

(She had become like they are) Come on, darling!

(Don't fear the Robot…)

[Finale:] The song collapses into chaotic robotic noises, as the writers argue about whether singing robots violate the rules of comedy, then: "…Right! That's enough of that-! Get back to work on the Cheese Shop Sketch…!"
